Why should I consider buying a brand new or a second-hand car in Belgium?

Belgium, at the center of Europe, has an excellent reputation concerning second-hand cars. Customers everywhere in Europe are purchasing their car here because of the excellent quality, the wide selection, the moderate price, the professional service and the absence of import and export hassles.

How do I import a second-hand car from Belgium to where I live?

The Belgian and European legislation makes it quite easy to export a car to another country. Best Budget Car will take care of all necessary paperwork and export formalities. All documents will be provided to ensure a swift registration of your car in your country. These official Belgian documents include the registration card, the certificate of conformity and the documents from the technical inspection. Please contact us if you have additional questions regarding import and export.

I live in Belgium. Is Best Budget Car the firm I should choose?

Of course! A large part of our sales is still to Belgian customers; the only difference is that there is less paperwork to be done.

How do I pay for a car I want to purchase?

Payment for a car purchased at Best Budget Car can be done in several ways: in cash (either major European currency or US dollars), by Eurocheque, or by money wired into our bank account. Please contact us if you have additional questions regarding payment.

I don't live in Belgium. How do I transport the car to my country?

You either can drive the car yourself, using transit licence plates (valid for one month), or you can choose to have the car transported by truck or boat. Please contact us for more details.

Aren't there some taxes or VAT to be paid? What about customs?

Thanks to the European legislation, VAT should be paid if you are living in the European Union, and if you are bying the car as a private person. If you live outside of the European Union, or if your company as a corporate body with a VAT-number is buying the car, then there is no VAT to be paid.

VAT on used cars in Belgium

Important: a used car is a car more than 6 months after date of first use and/or which has more than 6.000 km on the road.

Selling a used car to a private buyer living in the EEC:
  1. The seller is a private person. A private person is not VAT-registered, so he cannot charge VAT.
  2. The seller is a dealer and the previous owner was not registered at VAT. The dealer has to charge 21% VAT on his profit margin.
  3. The seller is a dealer and the previous owner was VAT registered. The dealer has to charge 21% VAT, and if the buyer is a private person which is not VAT registered, then he has to pay the VAT.
Selling a used car out of the EEC:

If the car, obviously, was exported, there is no need to pay VAT.
